Vantage and its brother VracE are offered in four versions as V-tail models.

Light stands for a very light construction especially for use in weak weather conditions. Specifically, the shell is laminated from one layer of AeroST-20 on the outside and one on the inside, with the typical support material in between. UMS40 rovings are used for the spar webbing. The ballast chamber in the light version is slightly smaller. This enables a light, yet stiff wing with top quality workmanship.

The structure of the F3B version has been optimized for the "4th discipline" - the launch. A rigid spar chord made of UMS40 rovings, coupled with a wing structure consisting of one layer of AeroST40 and another layer of AeroST40 on the outside of the D-box and an inner layer of AeroST20, results in a very torsionally and flexurally rigid, yet lightweight wing. The ballast chamber and the adjustable towhook is well positioned exactly where needed.

F3G is the class that is currently growing quite rapidly in order to be able to perform F3B tasks without a winch. Both Vantages have been given a slim yet spacious fuselage to accommodate a standard F3G engine. Stability and layup are based on F3B. needs.

The F3F version is the heaviest and most material-intensive variant. Here too, the spar is made of UMS40 rovings. In the wing shell, two layers of AeroST40 are used on the outside plus a further layer of AeroST20 in the D-box area. One layer of AeroST40 is used as the inner layer. In combination with the other fine details, this results in a very robust and flexurally and torsionally rigid wing, which easily carries the FAI.max weight around the tight turns. The surface quality is also unparalleled in this variant.

In addition to the F3G version, the other variants can also be ordered with an electric fuselage. This can be specified accordingly when ordering the desired model.

The Vantage is an F3F competition model.

Nobody can describe the characteristics as well as the designer himself. That's why we let Mario Perner have his say here: "The VANTAGE is designed as a thoroughbred competition model especially for the F3F class. The aim of the development was to offer the competition pilot an "advantage" over the competition, especially in medium to poor weather conditions. It is intended to be a useful addition to a competition pilot's fleet, not a replacement. Following the current trend, the VANTAGE is therefore not necessarily designed as a classic all-rounder, but rather as a specialist for certain conditions. But it is precisely this specialization that makes the VANTAGE so interesting for ambitious hobby pilots. Because let's be honest: how often do you stand on a slope or on the coast and really have THE perfect conditions for world record flights

The development of the model was based on numerous experiences and feedback from some of the best competition pilots in the F3F class. Countless competition flights were also analyzed. This made it possible to set specific accents (fuselage design, aspect ratio, ...) and develop completely new profiles for the wing. Particular attention was paid to excellent performance in the lower and middle lift range without having to accept any significant losses in real speed flight."

As the wing has been uncompromisingly designed for F3F, the glider shows impressively from the very first flights how it can be moved on a slope in a wide variety of conditions. The fuselage was also optimized with great effort until it became extremely torsionally stiff and bending stable. This is the only way for a high-performance model like the Vantage to achieve outstanding performance when turning or during a winch launch.

An electric fuselage suitable for F3G and hobby use is also available for this perfect wing. The beefy fuselage looks sleek and striking. Its profile was modeled exactly on the glider. Only the width was adapted to the additional space required.

With the Powerline 1520/10 Turbo F3G, for example, the F3G powertrain from Schambeck is used, with which the Vantage F3G complies with the rules. In combination with our VM Pro Twist spinner and a VM Pro Twist propeller, you hardly notice that a drive is installed. A 1800mAh Lipo battery is inserted into the fuselage as a 2x 2S1P in two packs one behind the other. Consequently, the canopy was positioned at the bottom of the fuselage to ensure optimum loading of the fuselage.

It is also interesting to note that the individual components, such as the wings and fuselage of the Vantage also fit the Vantage Race brother! This means you can combine the models perfectly!

The Vantage Race (VracE) is the younger brother of the Vantage.

Mario Perner describes his thoughts behind the new development as follows: "The VANTAGE has proven itself as a specialist for weak days in slope flying and can fully exploit its strengths there. However, when the weather conditions improve, it falls out of its design range. This is exactly where the VANTAGE Race comes in. It is designed to complement the Vantage in good to very good weather conditions. Fortunately, the aerodynamic design is based on the extensive experience gained with the Vantage and the privately built Valkyrie. The Valkyrie's tried and tested airfoil structure (wing and tail unit) was adapted for the VracE. Particular attention was paid to excellent turning performance and good-natured flight behavior.

In keeping with this quote from Philip Rosenthal, we have also incorporated some design changes to the VracE. For example, the wings are now held to the fuselage by two connectors. This makes the wing more rigid thanks to the additional spar web between the connectors. The ballast chamber is still very close to the center of gravity and is loaded with square ballast pieces. It is therefore no longer necessary to pay attention to the correct alignment of the ballast pieces, which enables quick and easy ballasting, especially in competition. The nose of the fuselage has shrunk and the tail unit has grown slightly. As the wings of the Vantage fit the fuselage of the VracE, we are also responding to the wishes of many customers and are now offering an upgrade for the Vantage for even better handling in very weak conditions."

Detailed Views

Vantage

In the ARF delivery, everything is already done at the root profile. The gap masking, torsion pin and even the cable connection via a green MPX plug are ready.

The solid connector is inserted centrally between the ballast shafts and can also be ordered as a steel version in extreme cases.

The precisely adapted lead pieces bring the Vantage up to its FAI.max limit without changing the center of gravity.

An IDS system can be installed on request. Robust with counter bearing and stable aluminum linkage. We currently have KST, MKS and ChaServos as options.

The ball linkages are also already installed on the tail unit as supplied. The Pushrods with CFRP rods and matching ball sockets are also installed. Tailplane torsion bars and CFRP round connectors are also ready fitted.

For flying, everything disappears compactly and aerodynamically under a canopy.

The space for the tail servos is pre-milled at the front and a matching servo board is included. Only the CFRP rods still need to be cut to length and glued in place.

There is space in front of the servos for the receiver, a battery and the necessary nose lead. Even the fuselage wiring harness is already installed. Incidentally, a nose lead prefabricated for the Vantage is available from us.

Electric Version

The electric fuselage has a slim and elegant design. Our spinner/prop combinations from CCM and VM are extremely close-fitting and produce surprisingly little drag.

Access to the fuselage is at the bottom, allowing the battery to be conveniently guided into the fuselage under the wing joiner. At the same time, the power for a plug-in landing is transferred cleanly into the fuselage via the upper fuselage shell.

The fuselage nose is prepared for the installation of our CCM aluminum bulkhead with 30mm diameter. This in turn fits perfectly with our spinner range.

The canopy cut-out extends to below the wing to ensure easy access. The fuselage wiring harness is also fully installed in the electric version.

VracE

In the ARF delivery, everything is already done at the root profile. The gap masking, torsion pin and even the cable connection via a green MPX plug are ready.

The ballast shaft is rectangular and can be filled with lead, brass or tungsten.

The double connector ensures significantly better torsional rigidity at the surface root.

An IDS system can be installed on request. Robust with counter bearing and stable aluminum linkage. We currently have KST, MKS and ChaServos as options.

The ball linkages are also already installed on the tail unit as supplied. The pushrods with CFRP rods and matching ball sockets are also installed. Tailplane torsion bars and CFRP round connectors are also ready fitted.

For flying, everything disappears compactly and aerodynamically under a canopy.

The aerodynamically very clean tailplane connection contributes to the excellent performance. It also looks great.

The fuselage of the VracE is optimized for aerodynamics without any compromise and is even slimmer than the Vantage. Nevertheless, there is room for everything that needs to fit. The servo cut-outs are not predefined, so everyone can test out their optimum positioning.

Elektroversion

The electric hull has a slim and elegant design. Our spinner/prop combinations from CCM and VM are extremely close-fitting and produce surprisingly little drag.

In contrast to the Vantage, the canopy of the VracE is fitted at the top. This makes handling easier. CCM has also managed to slide a 2x2S 1800mAh Lipo battery under the wing with the help of a CFRP strip. Alternatively, a 1300mAh 4S block can be fitted in front of the connector.

Fuselage

Here on the left you can see the Vantage hull removed. The distribution and attachment of the additional lead is still somewhat provisional here. But you can clearly see that all components have sufficient space and room for powerful servos.

The VracE glider fuselage is shown to the right. The space is noticeably less, but the lead, battery, receiver and servos are still easy to install.

In these two pictures you can clearly see the servo block for the electric fuselage extension of Vantage and VracE. The two KST X10Mini servos sit here in a prefabricated servo mount and offer optimum positioning for the CFRP linkage rods. At the same time, there is a fixing screw on the bracket to secure the batteries. You can either attach a CFRP strip to it, on which the two 1800mAh 2S are shrunk, or you can use it to create a clamping tab for a 1350mAh 4S block. The picture on the right clearly shows the built-in servo block with a 4S Lipo and a YGE65LVT controller positioned in front of it.a

Installation Example Wing Servos

To install the wing servos, it is advisable to remove the control horns of the IDS system and press them onto the servo output outside the wing. It is important to set the servos to neutral beforehand and then position the IDS lever as vertically as possible to the servo position.

To remove the rudder horn, use small pliers to pull the axle wire out of the rudder horn. You can then lift the rudder linkage and pull the rudder horn out of its bearing.

Once the rudder horn has been removed, it can usually be pushed open cleanly with a little pressure, e.g. against the edge of a table. Make sure you press it in as far as it will go so that everything fits properly afterwards.

CAUTION: If the control horn does not slide onto the servos with moderate pressure, do not use force. It is better to check the position of the teeth again. Sometimes there is a bit of plastic in one or other tooth, or you have already pressed a tooth between the actual teeth of the control horn with too much pressure!

Once the servo is in place and vertical in the neutral position, the neutral positions of the ailerons will fit very well. The flaps should now be positioned approx. 25°-30° downwards. This can be corrected later when programming the flap settings (NOT via the neutral position!). This ensures that the flaps can also deflect vertically downwards.

Motor Installation Example

Vantage and VracE have already cut off the fuselage nose on delivery and adapted it to a 30mm spinner. The ALU bulkhead available as an accessory is available for various drilling templates (currently Powerline, XPower and Reisenauer).

Now glue the bulkhead in place using a little 2-component resin. It is essential to use a small amount of resin so that excess resin does not stick to the rear of the gearbox. Ideally, wet the inside of the fuselage slightly and apply the main amount of resin to the motor bulkhead. This ensures that the excess resin is pushed out the front of the fuselage during insertion and not into the rear. Remove the excess resin directly with a cloth and then place the fuselage on its nose to dry for approx. 24 hours. In this way, the resin in the fuselage also runs forward to the gluing point.

Once the resin has dried through, you should have an exact fit for a 30mm spinner.

Center of Gravity (CG): 97mm - 103mm

The exact matching protective bag set is available for both models. The protective bags are made in such a way that the models can be covered and protected from the sun and moisture even when assembled.

A suitable ballast set is available for each version of the Vantage and VracE. With these ballast sets it is possible to ballast the stable models to the FAI.max limit. A steel connector is also available for the Vantage. The light versions have correspondingly less ballast so that they are not overloaded.

An IDS can be ordered ready installed. The IDS has a counter bearing in the surface and a milled aluminum linkage as the drive rod. This enables a robust and backlash-free linkage. As the servo is installed at the factory, all that remains to be done is to screw the servo into the correct neutral position and fit the servo cover.

The IDS is available for KST, MKS and ChaServo.
